The Rode NTG Video Mic is a good mic. I bought it for video use but I didn’t really use it at first because my focus quickly shifted from producing video content to making websites and photography. I didn’t know this Mic can connect via USB-C to other devices like your computer to record audio. I thought it was only a camera mic. I was very wrong. I started using this mic on my YouTube recordings since recently shifting back to video and I like its output. I have been using this mic to record Loom videos for software use in photography. While I wouldn’t recommend intentionally testing its limits, it certainly feels high-quality and well-built. The weight distribution is even, and the body exudes solidity. I have been using it the past month exclusively for audio and it does the job both for loom recordings and YouTube.

The Rode VideoMic NTG is priced at $249 as of the writing of this blog post. Considering its versatility and feature set, this price point is reasonable. It’s higher than many USB microphones but low for a professional-grade mic. For the functionality it offers, it’s a solid investment.

This Mic can easily be your all arounder. I own a Rode NT1 but this one is my go to right now just because I can easily connect it to my computer then quickly switch it over to my camera. Now that I am making more video content I use it exclusively. If you have different use cases for this mic I recommend it.
