In this test, I paired some legendary Nikon manual focus lenses with the Canon 1DX using a Fotodiox Pro Nikon F to Canon EOS adapter. I headed out for a botanical shoot (backyard style) to see how each lens performs when it comes to rendering, sharpness, color, and character. These classics still have plenty of life in them, especially when you slow down and enjoy the process. Here’s what I found.

The Lens Hooche Verdict
Pairing vintage Nikon lenses with a Canon 1DX via the Fotodiox adapter gave me an entirely different shooting experience — slower, more intentional, and creatively satisfying. These old lenses still have plenty to say, especially for macro and nature lovers.
If you want to see each lens in action, check out my YouTube Shorts and Instagram reels (@lens_hooche_reviews). More breakdowns and side-by-side comparisons are coming soon. If i had to choose one (or two) I would pick the 105mm and the 135mm f2.8. Loved all but these two were my favorites. Stick around at the hooche as I will also be pairing these lenses for street photography with a Sony A7CII.
